The Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, which has dominated Rome for sixteen centuries, is one of the most significant places of worship in the city. Located on the top of the Esquiline Hill, it is one of the four Papal Basilicas of Rome and a masterpiece of art and spirituality. According to tradition, the Virgin Mary, through a dream, inspired the construction of the Basilica. In this dream, the Madonna asked Pope Liberius and the patrician John to build a church in her honor, in a place that she herself would miraculously indicate. Every year, on August 5, the Miracle of the Snowfall is re-enacted, with a solemn celebration that includes the descent of white petals from the ceiling, creating an evocative atmosphere of union between the faithful and the Mother of God.

The Basilica is a treasure trove of art and spirituality, where visitors can admire ancient mosaics, extraordinary works of art and discover the beauty and significance of one of the richest places of worship in history and faith.
